Roma, (Palazzo delle Esposizioni) XXI CENTURY CHINA. ART BETWEEN IDENTITY AND TRANSFORMATION
from february 2008 till 18 may 2008
Through May 18, Palazzo delle Esposizioni hosts an exhibition of the works of important Chinese contemporary artists that detail the rapid historic and cultural transformation that took place in China from the last decade of the XX century. The political and economic changes and the subsequent urbanization dramatically changed an economy that until then had primarily relied on agriculture. The opening to international markets, the acquisition of new languages, the use of the Internet, all these factors led to the rapid development and newly-found mass consumerism, albeit contradictory and disorderly. The public will be drawn into an introspective journey aided by new art visions.
